If you're new to this blog, or the BMW brand for that matter, you might only be just hearing about the i3 and i8. These cars were unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, and since then, have been racking up orders in the books.

It had been a couple months, so the folks here at BMW of Cape Cod decided it was time for a check in. How many orders have these two new electric autos garnered?

Quite a few. As of our writing, the BMW i3 has 10,000 firm orders, with the i8 projected to sell out of its first production run. That's pretty impressive for two vehicles that have yet to hit U.S. dealerships.

But that's also because BMW has been keen to tease them for us for quite some time now. Even before the i8 made its bow at Frankfurt, we'd seen the car paraded in concept form from motor show to motor show, touting its hybrid powertrain.

That the i8 is projected to sell out in the U.S. market doesn’t come as a particular surprise. The Bavarian automaker's marketing team projected early on that the North American sector would be where the vehicle would see its highest sales.

The BMW i3 and i8 will join our lineup here in Hyannis, MA next spring, along with a host of other new BMW models we offer. If you're interested in looking into these models, or any other new luxury car, get in touch with us and we can arrange a test drive.
