Serving Hyannis, MA
The refined BMW X5 offers all of the comforts of a three-row luxury SUV as well as the exciting performance capabilities that BMW is recognized for. In 2026, the X5 is available in four trim levels: the sDrive40i, the xDrive40i, the xDrive50e, and the M60i. If you’re in the market for a gas-powered X5 with higher-end features, a comparison of the xDrive40i and the M60i is in order.
Performance
One of the most significant differences between these two trim levels is in their performance capabilities. The X5 xDrive40i is equipped with a mild-hybrid, turbocharged 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. This system is paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission and standard all-wheel drive. It puts out 375 horsepower and 383 pound-feet of torque. Adaptive suspension dampers are standard.
Appearance
The M60i, on the other hand, comes with a sport-tuned and mild-hybrid, turbo 4.4-liter, V8 engine. This system produces 523 horsepower with 553 pound-feet of torque. The M60i has the same transmission and all-wheel drive system as the xDrive40i. This version of the X5 adds a sport steering wheel, sport brakes, a sport differential, a sport adaptive suspension, and a sport exhaust.
Features
The BMW X5 boasts a sporty yet elegant design, characterized by a confident flow through the profile, strong contouring on the sides, and bold definition that swells over the hood. Chrome elements enhance the front fenders, lower door panels, and front bumper. The model is styled with a short variation of the brand’s kidney-style design. The sleek headlights taper to a point, showcasing LED accents. The xDrive40i comes with 20-inch wheels, run-flat tires, heated and power-folding side mirrors, and cornering headlights. The M60i builds on these features with upgraded wheels and special trim.
The xDrive40i is well-appointed with features like synthetic leather upholstery, a navigation system, a panoramic sunroof, a push-button starter, a wireless device charger, a three-zone climate control system, a 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, a 14.9-inch infotainment system screen, a wireless hotspot, a 10-speaker sound system, satellite radio, and others. The M60i adds a head-up display, contoured and ventilated sport seats, and a Harman Kardon sound system. Numerous upgrades are available for both trim levels.
