What do I need for a car finance application?

For our online application, have these ready: your personal details (full name, date of birth, email, phone, and the last four digits of your Social Security number), your housing details (current address, whether you rent or own, your monthly rent or mortgage payment, and how long you have lived there, plus whether you rented or owned your previous residence), and your employment and income (employer, occupation, time with your current employer, and your net salary). Co-applicant sections are optional. You will finish by reviewing the privacy information, entering your initials, and authorizing the application.

The Application, Section by Section

Details Worth Checking Before You Start

Income

Know Your Net Salary

Net salary is required and gross salary is optional. Net salary is your take-home pay after taxes and deductions; gross salary is your pay before them. Keep a recent pay stub nearby so the figures you enter are accurate. The form does not label a pay period, so ask our finance team whether to enter monthly or annual amounts.

Time

Have Your Dates Handy

The form asks how long you have lived at your current address and worked for your current employer, in years and months. Look up your move-in date and job start date in advance rather than estimating.

Other Income

Decide What to Include

You can list other income. The form notes that alimony, child support, or separate maintenance income does not need to be disclosed if you do not want it considered as a basis for repaying the obligation.

Security, Credit, and What to Expect

  • Secure submission: The application states that it is submitted through an HTTPS form and that sensitive data is encrypted before transmission.
  • Credit report authorization: The privacy section includes a request that your consumer credit report be obtained to help determine the financing that may be available to you. Read it before you authorize, and ask our finance team any questions about how your credit will be reviewed.
  • Information sharing: The privacy statement explains how your information is used and lets you choose your preference for sharing with non-affiliated third parties.
  • Text messages are optional: The text-message consent checkbox is not a condition of purchase.
  • No guarantees: Submitting an application does not guarantee approval, a specific rate, or specific terms. Approval and terms are determined by the lender, and the lender or our finance team may ask for additional information after you apply.

Common Mistakes That Slow an Application Down

Mixing Up Gross and Net Pay

Entering your gross pay in the net salary field, or mixing monthly and annual amounts, can create a mismatch the finance team has to resolve. Copy the figures from a recent pay stub and use the same pay period throughout.

Typos in Your Contact Details

A mistyped email address or phone number means our team cannot reach you about your application. Double-check both before you submit.
